Abstract
There is now general acceptance that the work currently being undertaken to produce EIA Standard TR 41.8.1-3 will define a wiring system which will support a communication system´s requirements. The proposed cabling architecture is a hierarchical star network. Groups of information outlets, which may cover an entire floor of a high rise building, are connected via horizontal cabling to a local hub on the backbone cabling. In this way voice and data communications can be provided within and between buildings using four basic types of cable
