Title :
New Factor for Judging the Quality of Speech Perceived from Artificial Reverberators
Author_Institution :

Abstract :
A new factor, the zero-crossing criterion, is introduced to judge the quality of the speech sounds from artificial reverberators. Artificial reverberators, such as comb filters, are used to simulate the acoustic impulse response of rooms, but comb filters produce audible colorations and flutter. In this article, several configurations for reverberation filters are presented, the zero-crossing criterion is calculated for the impulse response of each and the results are discussed.
