Abstract :
This paper proposes the design aspects of dual resonance stacked patch antenna using the optimization feature of Bacteria Foraging Optimization (BFO) algorithm and function mapping feature of Neural Networks (NNs). At first, a NN was trained to learn the working frequencies of the stacked patch antenna for its different dimensional parameters. In the next phase, this trained NN was embedded inside the optimization loop of an optimizer working on BFO principle, to calculate the design dimensions of the antenna for user input frequencies. BFO, being new to microwave community, its capability has to be verified for microwave applications. The results obtained from the developed methodology were cross checked with simulations as well as with experimental verifications.
