Abstract
E-learning has become a focus application area in modern education technology. How to provide a wealth of teaching resources and teaching scenarios for on-line network learning users has become a hot issue of current research. Web annotations are sharable information which is added to the Web pages by users, the aim is to reflect the experience of reading, understanding and dispel doubts. They are playing an important role in Web-based distance education applications. This paper considers the design and annotation positioning issues about Web annotation based on HTML and DOM specifications. Firstly we discussed the annotation model based on web pages and then we proposed the functional architecture of web annotation system and some related key problems which includes algorithms for simple annotation and complex annotations. Finally, Experiments both confirm the effectiveness of the proposed algorithms and give the main implementations for the system.
