Abstract
Urban and rural water resources management is the basis for water resources management that can promote the sustainable utilization of water resources, and bring economic and ecological benefits. The water managers need to be better informed about amounts of water users, water source types and the quantity of water supply, water use, loss, and drainage of different administrative regions and of different industry categories. The urban and rural water resources information management system was designed to aid in integrated management of such information. This system structures a three-tier client/server (C/S) architecture, with five modules of data entry, data query, statistical charts, report management and system management, enabling the water managers to be better informed for managements and decisions. This system has reusability, flexibility and universality, and extensibility for its more functions to be further developed.
