Abstract :
In order to evaluate the performance of anti-contamination distribution insulators, a novel testing procedure was developed taking into account the characteristics of these types of insulators. This testing procedure, which allows one to evaluate the operating limits of the anti-contamination insulators, is described in detail. To show the convenience of the method, experimental results from an actual test are presented. From these results, it can be inferred that the tested insulator will perform satisfactorily in heavily polluted areas. Moreover, the results can serve to compare the performance of this insulator with that of other insulator designs such as resistive graded
