Abstract
The authors present a novel scheme for encoding, decoding, and signal processing of femtosecond laser pulses. An analytical model characterizing the operation of the basic communication system along with results of computer simulation is presented. Several signal processing architectures that can be implemented within the decoding system are also presented. Simulation results show the robustness of the system to noise
