Abstract
There is no universally accepted control strategy or PWM generation method which could be used in the entire range of complex AC motor drive control applications. To attempt a solution for this problem, a novel general purpose knowledge-based control system is investigated. An investigation, using this concept, to provide clear regions in the spectrum of a PWM waveform in order to allow unhindered examination of signature components used in online condition monitoring diagnostics is presented. The development of hardware using Intel 8097 microcontrollers in a master-slave configuration and software modules adapting real-time concurrent programming techniques based on knowledge-based concepts is also presented
