Abstract :
The prediction of hydrodynamic characteristics and motion responses is investigated numerically with CFD software FLUENT and self-developed program. Variations of resistance , lift and moment under the condition of the air effect is considered or not at different Froude numbers are numerically simulated. Predicted results show that the lift and moment change obviously when the air effect is included. The maximum increase of lift reaches 31.78% while the reduction of moment is 31.84% at Fr=5.0.Heave-pitch motion characteristics of planing boat at Fr=1.5 is numerically simulated by the real-time solution of planing boat motion equations, time history curves on height of center of gravity and pitch angle are presented.
