Abstract
During the last years there is increasing interest in wireless ad hoc networks built from portable devices equipped with short-range wireless network interfaces. In this paper we analyze the behavior of connections using Bluetooth connectivity at the link layer and MAC protocol, with emphasis in the communication between mobile nodes. We describe an efficient formation algorithm to build mobile ad-hoc networks. Our model simplifies packet routing and scheduling, allowing nodes to arrive and leave arbitrarily, incrementally building the topology and healing partitions when they occur. Further, we present simulation results that validate our model. These simulations reveal interesting performance implications of the mobile ad-hoc networks.
