Abstract :
Summary form only given. We have previously published a novel polymeric thermo-optic 1 x 2 digital optical switch (DOS) that utilizes an oversized rib waveguide structure to allow for the use of many standard polymers with arbitrary high index contrast. In this paper we investigate the feasibility of this concept for large scale integration by the realization of a thermo-optic 4 x 4 DOS-matrix composed of 24 1 x 2-switch elements.
