Abstract
Pyrolytic tire char was used to prepare activated carbon by steam. The effects of such factors as pretreatment, activation temperature, rate of water vapor and activation time upon the adsorption properties of AC have been investigated. The prepared activated pyrolytic tire char were characterized by N2 physisorption, XRD, FT-IR and elemental analyses. The optimum process parameters and listed as follows: activation temperature 800°C, the rate of water vapor 2g/min, activation time 2h.
