Abstract :
Summary form only given. We have observed network power fluctuations lasting up to 2.5 sec in a WDM network with cascaded automatic channel power equalizers and a long-distance fiber amplifier chain. Utilization of fixed gain amplifiers eliminates such power fluctuations in reconfigurable multiwavelength networks.
