Abstract
The advance of electronics in power distribution and substations will be of great importance in the future. The most characteristic difference between electronical systems for industrial applications and those for substations are the extreme transients and electromagnetic fields caused by restrikes in disconnectors, especially in metal closed types. The author describes many years of experience in the field of reliability of electronic systems which illustrate that electromagnetic disturbances can be kept under control even when components with high sensitivity are used
