Computer based distribution control rooms-operational experience

For several years, the North of Scotland Hydro-Electric Board has operated a prototype distribution control room based entirely on a network diagram displayed by computer driven colour monitor displays. The initial system provided workstations for two control engineers and also provided a graphics interface to an existing telecontrol system. This system has been in daily use since May 1985, as the sole means of controlling all operations on the HV system.
