Battery storage units in electricity supply systems

Developments in the field of batteries have prompted electricity supply utilities to reconsider the technical and economic exploitation of electro-chemical storage batteries for network applications. The author discusses some of these applications, in particular, storage booster stations. A pilot project for an NaS booster station is described and future prospects discussed
