  • Abstract
    NOAA´s operational environmental satellites have been collecting data over the entire globe daily ever since April 1960. Although originally designed primarily for meteorological purposes, extensive use of these data have been made over the past several years for marine applications. With the launch of SEASAT in July of 1978, the marine community had its first proof-of-concept oceanographic satellite in orbit.
