Abstract :
A microprocessor controlled remote data acquisition unit has been developed by BENTECH A/S and operated succesfully in direct contact with heliox atmosphere at depths in excess of 350 metres. The unit permits remote monitoring of physiological parameters while a diver is working at such depths. Error detection and correction techniques ensure the reliability of the received data. The potential exists for two way communication which may be used in the future to control or modify the acquisition process.
