Abstract
Within the scope of the government programmes for the development of flow energy, the IJsselmij Energy Company NV (Netherlands) decided in 1986 to build a wind farm, consisting of 25 wind turbines with a capacity of 300 kW each. The yearly output is estimated at 10 million kWh. The wind farm was situated by the Noordoostpolder dike, to ensure maximum output. As the grid there did not allow installation of such a capacity, the wind farm had to be linked to the 110/10 kV transformer station at Emmeloord, at a distance of about 16 km. In this contribution, attention is paid to the choice of installation, the voltage variations, the restriction of the switch-on current and the reactive current compensation. Finally a number of recommendations are made
