  • Abstract
    The determination of CBM Recovery is critical to the development of CBM industry. There are three approaches for recovery factor determination including analogy, sorption isotherm and reservoir simulation. In this work, the applicability of the three approches were detailedly analyzed. Further more,based on the study of geological characteristic of PanZhuang district and the collection of gas content and reservoir pressure,recovery factors under different abandoned pressures for 3# and 15# coal bed were calculated in terms of sorption isotherm. In addition, reservoir simulations were conducted to determine the recovery factors as well. By comparing the results of these two approaches, the technical recovery factor and the economic recovery factor of 3# coal bed is finally estimated at 53.77% and 50.63% respectively. While for 15# coal bed they are 51.62% and 47.36% respectively.
