Abstract
The authors briefly discuss the aims and functions of the damage statistics and then go on the describe their structure. A comparison is made between VDEW statistics and those of several other European countries. The authors then discuss the collecting, reporting and evaluation of damage incidents, as well as the use of statistics by electric utilities and industry
