Abstract :
Reports on work in progress within the CEC RACE project R1022 `Technology for ATD´ on the dimensioning and management of network capacity for mixes of variable bit rate (VBR) and constant bit rate (CBR) traffic. This is also useful for connection admission control (CAC) studies, because it gives information about the quality of service to be expected for certain traffic mixes. Results indicate that the bandwidth allocated (per source) to the VBR traffic needs to be increased as the proportion of VBR sources in the traffic mix is reduced
