Abstract :
Summary form only given. In order to manage and control an optical network based on wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) technologies, efficient and economic operations are critical issues. New operations, administration, maintenance, and provisioning (OAM and P) approaches and related technologies need to be developed before all optical networking can be fully realized. This paper examines the network management aspects of optical networks and discusses the functional modeling and the information modeling of managing this new transport network.
