Knowledge based travel information systems-experience from the TRACE community club

Concerns the development of ROCKETT (Representation of Club Knowledge for Expertise in Travel and Transport), an environment for the development of expert systems for package tour booking and public transport enquiries. Its expert system component captures the skills of experience enquiry personnel to provide a convenient computer based aid to enquiry handling. It emphasises the role of the interface between the computer and the user in operational environments and contributes to the development of systems suitable for public use. The system is not self sufficient, but accesses remote databases for information. It provides help and assistance to the staff and gives then access to a variety of data sources without their needing to know how to access them individually
