Abstract :
This paper is based on experience within the Ministry of Defence on the factors to be considered when creating an integrated system of communications and information systems for command and control of the battlefield. The Army has concluded that achieving integration of a complex network of communications and information subsystems requires far more than the implementation of ISO communications protocol standards. This wider view could well be necessary for other large networks
