Abstract :
The analysis of large planar arrays can be examined most efficiently by means of a computer model. This enables configurations to be varied and the factors controlling performance to be isolated. The computer program, PLANAR, has been developed to analyze such planar arrays. In addition to utilisation as a standalone computer model, the input and output data structures, and hence the PLANAR computer program itself, are amenable to incorporation into larger system models. In particular, a radar system model has been designed which utilises PLANAR. In order to achieve a reasonable compromise between accuracy and computational speed requirements, consideration of the interaction of PLANAR with the radar system model is necessary
