Abstract
Deals with new developments in solid state TV transmitters and describes some of the author´s current work in this field. The range of high power solid state VHF and UHF TV transmitters developed by THOMSON-LGT uses a common set of techniques, including amplifiers power combining systems, DC power supply and distribution systems. The common set of techniques are illustrated by reference to the 30 kW VHF transmitter, as an example. The availability of VHF transistors with individual power ratings of 240 watts now allows the design of a television transmitter of 30 kW peak visual output power with high reliability, broadband operation, no tuning, excellent performance, and minimum maintenance requirements
