Abstract
In paper making electromagnetic heating, infrared and dielectric heating (covering both radio frequency and microwave), used as an addition after conventional cylinder dryers, allows for precise first time drying to a predetermined average moisture content, levelling out any unevenness. The author briefly discusses the importance of moisture distribution in paper making. He then goes on to describe the use of dielectric heating for this purpose and the more recent use of infrared heating incorporating sensing devices and a process computer
