Abstract :
A description is given of the various analytical models used to represent the motion of a large moored barge in irregular beam seas, together with results of a computer simulation study and comparison with model test data. The wave effects include first order oscillatory wave forces as well as second order slowly varying drift forces. The effects of other environmental disturbances due to current and wind (including gusts); the representation of nonlinear cable forces; and a description of the high speed digital simulation technique are also provided.
