Abstract :
Code-phase multiplexing (CPM) is a means of direct-sequence spread-spectrum (DS-SS) signaling that offers the potential of increasing the spreading gain without reducing the data rate, or increasing the data rate without sacrificing the spreading gain. We analyze the bit-error rate (BER) performance of CPM DS-SS signaling in Rayleigh and Rician fading channels. Results show that the performance of CPM DS-SS signaling in the mobile fading channel is very similar to that of conventional DS-SS signaling, and could be improved by the use of a RAKE receiver. However, in the presence of tone jamming, we show that CPM DS-SS signaling gives better performance than conventional DS-SS signaling
