Abstract
Risley Laboratory has been involved in the inspection of nuclear reactor components, both in the UK and overseas, for more than 15 years. Several digital inspection systems are now in use at Risley for laboratory development studies and on-site applications. These include CIRCE (computerised inspection recording and characterisation equipment), ZIPSCAN as supplied by Sonomatic Ltd., and the Rolls-Royce MatEval Micropulse system. The paper illustrates the benefits of using digital technology in NDT and concentrates mainly on recent work using the Risley CIRCE system
