Abstract
The problem of teaching and learning marine science concepts and the evaluation of marine education field programs is approached from a comprehensive Theory of Educating. The design of marine science curricula based on existing student knowledge and scientific research is described. The use of concept and VEE mapping and interviews with students before and after instruction leads to the design of more effective curricula and teaching/learning strategies for a marine education program.
