Abstract :
Optical communications is the most important technology in the access network. Gigabit-capable passive optical network (GPON) has been viewed as a promising technology for the next-generation fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) optical systems because they can deliver multi-services (e.g. TDM, Ethernet) with the required Quality of Service (QoS). This paper analyzed the ITU-T GPON standard G.984.1 to G.984.6 and GPON network configuration, the information about dynamic bandwidth allocation (DBA) in GPON standard, an improved DBA algorithm based on the all the transmission containers (T-CONT) was proposed, elaborated the specific algorithm for improved scheme, and builds the GPON model for this algorithm and test its performance. The simulation results show that the average delay in different frame cycle can satisfy the Quality of Service (QoS) requirements of GPON.
