Abstract
The generation of harmonics and reactive power flow in a power system is greatly influenced by the widespread use of Power Electronic converters in addition to other sources of harmonics and reactive power generation. This paper gives a comparative evaluation of some improved power quality three-phase Boost converters based on their performance, specifically from the point of view of improved power quality produced by them on the line side of converter. The comparative evaluation is performed on the basis of the results obtained from the computer simulations and is of interest to researchers and application engineers working in the field of power quality as it helps them to select an appropriate converter for a specific application and power quality requirements in the system. The paper also gives a brief description of each converter topology with its specified control strategy.
