Abstract
In this paper, a method for determining the optimal PID parameters using the bacterial foraging (BF) algorithm is presented. The paper demonstrates how to apply BF method to search efficiently the PID parameters by minimizing integral of time error squared (ISTE) criterion. Simulation of various process plant models shows better control performance, thereby, indicating the effectiveness of the proposed method.
