Abstract
This paper presents an implementation method for FFT correlation calculation in a DSP based control system for detecting water leak in underground pipeline. This method is able to determine distance between the leak point and the probe on the sound sensor, thus allowing locating leaks accurately. This system performs FFT calculation using real-time collected and filtered sound signals from two LV320AIC10 chips. This method of calculation is faster compared to the time domain method. This paper gives theoretical analysis of time delayed error and location accuracy, presents testing results, and provides guidance for selecting the optimal parameters in engineering design.
