Abstract :
A high performance DSP which is TMS320C6455, that has been used as the core of the new system platform. The EBCOT algorithm which is the core algorithm of the image compression JPEG2000 has been migrated and implemented in the embedded system. Many optimization technologies were proposed to make full of the performance of the DSP, which include program structure optimization, application layer optimization and so on. The goal is make the EBCOT algorithm which has high degree of computational complexity can be quickly implemented in this platform. In this experiment, image has been transmitted from the PC to the external memory of the DSP through the Ethernet, and encoded by the C6455. When the coding was finished, the compressed image would be transmitted back to the PC through the same way. Experimental results show that the image could be real time encoded by JPEG2000 in this platform.
