Abstract :
In this paper, we present a novel usable window size estimate scheme, called TCP East, to improve the efficiency and fairness of TCP. The key idea of TCP East is to perform an end-to-end estimate of the usable window size by properly counting and filtering the packet loss probability in an estimate period. The performance of TCP East is analyzed and compared with TCP West wood using ACK information to estimate the available bandwidth, which is steeped to the lips in the inaccurate estimate problem incurred by minimum RTT estimate, ACK compression and packet clustering.
