Abstract
The London Traffic Control Systems Unit is in the process of replacing its Siemens urban traffic control system, which was installed in the early 1970s, with a modern alternative. Facilities are being improved in the light of experience, and day-to-day operations are being incorporated into one integrated system. This paper discusses some of the ideas incorporated into the new system, particularly in the areas of user interfaces and networked processors, which are also applicable to smaller systems
