Abstract :
Efficient network planning requires accurate knowledge of transmitter coverage area. The Propagation Group at GEC-Marconi Research Centre have developed a software tool to predict coverage areas for VHF and UHF mobile and broadcast systems in the UK. This tool-COVMOD-has been used to help GEC plan the `National One´ Band III PMR network. The development activities can be split into three areas; database construction, field strength prediction algorithm development and calculation of clutter effects using measured field strength data
