Abstract :
The use of mobile radio on the battlefield is essential to provide the commander with 2-way communications with both his superiors and subordinates, to permit the passage of battlefield intelligence upwards and orders downwards for the effective employment of his forces against the enemy. Combat radio provides flexible communications not only for this command and control function but increasingly for the transfer of data between sensor and weapon systems. The authors address the need for management of the radio system rather than the implementation of spectrum management tools
