Abstract :
The authors have proposed a new technique of coherent fiber combining based on digital holography. Phase locking of three passive fibers has been experimentally demonstrated. The advantages of this scheme is that no complicated electronic feedback loop is required. Owing to high spatial resolution of existing SLMs and cameras, a large number of fiber amplifiers could be coherently combined. Moreover this technique could be used with large mode area fibers. Further experiments to phase locked a large number of fiber amplifiers are under progress.
