Abstract :
DATAMORPHOSIS is a datapath generator for VLSI circuits. Cell topology has been studied in order to optimize density and performances. Cells are realized with a procedural layout editor, so they work in different technologies. Both tristate and precharged busses are available. DATAMORPHOSIS is a complete set of libraries and programs inserted in the S.T. UNICAD environment, working on a CADENCE framework. DATAMORPHOSIS is devoted both to the VLSI system designer and the CMOS custom designer, who could increase the library by adding new cells. Density is very high and independent on the routing, it is possible to reach an average density of 6000 trans/mm2 in a 0.8 μm double metal technology (HCMOS4 by S.T.) Original design solutions are implemented in order to increase speed; all the structures are fully CMOS, so they have no static power dissipation
