Abstract
The struggles and gains made by domestic fishermen as a consequence of the passage of the Magnuson Fishery Conservation and Management Act and President Reagan´s proclamation establishing our 200-mile Exclusive Economic Zone are reviewed. Certain steps are outlined which the author feels are needed if our nation and its domestic fishermen are going to fully realize the potential benefits from the fishery resources in our 200-mile EEZ.
