Title :
The performance assessment of sonar data highways using dynamic modelling techniques
Abstract :
Describes the use of dynamic modelling techniques in a computer based simulation of a dual redundancy sonar data bus system. The design of the simulation model using Yourdon structured design is briefly discussed. The way in which data is transferred from sonar subsystems using the correct protocol in the simulation is described. Transient effects caused by rapidly arriving sonar signals are discussed together with the effects of forced and routine transferal of communications on data buses. The effect of these events on data arrival and loss is discussed. The way in which modelling techniques can be used in the early stages of design to assess system performance and to flag any potential problem areas is illustrated
