Abstract :
A novel technique of generating broadband waveforms at the element level, which includes beam steering, is discussed for phased-array radars. Generating the waveforms at the element level allows the net effect of time delay steering to be realized. This has the effect of increasing the range resolution when the beam is steered off of broadside. If the generators can be designed to include a phase offset, the phase shifter can be eliminated altogether.<>
