Abstract :
Accessing cloud services using smart phones, tablets or any other handheld devices is the main concept of this paper. An internet browser is used to access cloud services from personal computers. However, for embedded system devices, the embedded operating systems do not support rich browsers. So, it is difficult to access a virtual computer on some cloud over internet. This paper presents a method to access an Ubuntu instance on Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) using an Android application installed on Android Operating system ported on ARM11 board which acts as a thin cloud client. An Ubuntu instance on Amazon EC2 cloud is made Virtual Network Computing (VNC) server and the application is implementation of VNC client for Android. Hence, the application when accessed behaves like virtual Ubuntu screen on Android operating system ported on the kit.
