Abstract
The capacity of current communication satellites is limited by nonlinearities in power amplifiers (PAs) used in satellite transponders. An look-up-table (LUT)-based predistorter is a low cost, efficient, and flexible method to compensate the nonlinearity in the PA. A technique is proposed in this paper to design the bin values of the LUT, which minimizes the intermodulation distortion (IMD) power caused by its inherent approximation. Numerical simulations illustrate that the LUT-based predistorter designed by the proposed technique can largely improve the performance compared with the conventional technique.
