Abstract :
It is noted that the intelligent T1 multiplexer is the ideal network element for rapidly emerging hybrid and integrated services digital network (ISDN) applications. The authors discuss the various elements of such networks as well as their applications using both centralized and distributed network management. How these elements are affected by ISDN and BISDN (broadband ISDN) is also considered
