Abstract :
The authors are concerned with the coupling between surface/guided TE and TM electromagnetic waves in planar waveguides due to the nonlinearity of one or more of the guiding media. The coordinate system is chosen such that the waves propagate along the x-axis and the interfaces between different media lie in the x-y plane. The surface/guided was thus as general form A(x,t)=A(z)exp[i(kx-ωt]) where A is a component of the electromagnetic field
